Since the journey to Mars takes three years and there is microgravity in space which causes many problems, NCBI says that... “The loss of bone mineral density in space in the spine,neck, and pelvis is 1.0-1.6% per month.” If astronauts break their hands or fingers the model helps their hand become stronger so they can do more activities in space.The main part of the model which is the brace is mixed with silicone and copper, gets melted together during the process of making the brace in the 3D printer.On the astronaut’s fingers there are supports that help prevent the astronauts from breaking bones; the supports are made out of titanium which also gets melted during the process of the 3D printing. When the whole brace is printing the supports do not get printed with the main brace because the titanium supporters are optional for astronauts.
