This is my model for the Lunabotics Junior Contest. This robot collects and carries lunar regolith for use by the astronauts. My robot will collect the dirt through a shovel and a small vacuum that will bring the shoveled dirt into a carrying container. It will be remotely controlled by way of sensors and cameras. It will be very heavy and durable in the case of a strong wind. It will have detachable solar panels to charge. It will also have a claw-like arm to collect larger rocks. After each trip, the robot will empty its carrying container into a larger bin that is easily accessible for the astronauts to use. The robot is 3.4 x 2 x 2 feet which is small enough for easy transportation. Finally, it will have small canisters of compressed air that can be used to blow off the accumulated dust.
