From an early age I have always been fascinated by our solar system. From the abundant moons of Jupiter to the breathtaking rings of Saturn. However, Neptune has sparked my interest being the farthest official planet and having some intriguing characteristics. Here is my mission: A small orbiter/flyby probe named Poseidon and a small lander named Trident. The probe would use the GPHS-RTG since Neptune’s cosmic environment is extremely dark and far from the sun so an RTG would be essential for powering the spacecraft’s systems and providing heat. Poseidon and Trident would be launched from an SLS rocket and will travel to Jupiter for a gravity assist in which Poseidon would be on a trajectory towards Neptune. Once arriving in orbit, Poseidon will start deploying its scientific instruments such as the scan platform, Magnetometer, Radiometer, Spectrometer, Altimeter, and more to fulfill its 3 main objectives. Objective 1: Investigating Neptune's storms as they seem to disappear and reappear at random. Objective 2: Observing Neptune’s strange magnetic field as it doesn’t line up with the center of the planet. Objective 3: Deploying the small lander Trident to Investigate Triton’s strange Cryovolcanoes to observe volcanic activity and collect samples of Triton's crust. Talk about a cool discovery! My human power that will help accomplish this mission is ambition. Being ambitious is a great characteristic as it allows us to go beyond expectations and to keep going even after a failure. Ambition has powered many dreams and now it will power mine.
