The last time I was at the hospital, I noticed a tablet used for translating. I think that this could be improved upon, so I designed Sam, a robot created to help kids in hospital pediatric wards. Sam will be able to speak/sign in many different languages as well as interact with kids, and play simple games with them. He will be about two feet tall with a metal skeletal structure surrounded in foam to make him more huggable and covered in silicone rubber. That way it will be as easy to clean him as it is to hug him. Also, he will be weighed to help kids calm down. It's the same kind of principle as therapy dogs or weighted blankets. All-in-all, I think that Sam will definitely help kids smile.
