The Micro Gravity Utensil Clip (MGUC) is a friction fastener that firmly slides onto ISS food bags and provides a secure holster to keep both scissors and a utensil accessible for easy and expedient dining. Instead of literally morphing two objects, the MGUC takes a unique approach, providing the means to combine, by attachment, the tools necessary to eat in micro gravity. In doing so, the MGUC retains all the tools’ original functionality, while adding an extra convenience. Astronaut Chris Hadfield demonstrates how these food packets are currently opened with scissors and the meal is then fished out with a utensil (https://youtu.be/4zRKValrrGE). The MGUC will seamlessly streamline this awkward task, and reduce the chance of stray tools floating around the space station. The attached image included example scissors, spoon, and food bag to demonstrate the MGUC’s function (not to scale).
