The legislative branch in the state of New Jersey will propose a new law that makes it a requirement for houses that are within a 0.5 - 1.0 mile radius of the sea for their house to be raised. This move will be free to all homeowners, as it is a requirement. The houses will either be placed on sturdy stilts or have large amounts of dirt/concrete under the house and the house could be placed on top of it. This will most likely reduce the amount of damage done to houses that are very close to the shore. The reason why this law is being passed is that the sea is most likely to rise 18 - 40 inches over the next century, which poses a large problem to homes near the shore of New Jersey
