Although little, the climate of Virginia has been changing over time. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Virginia has increased in temperature by one degree over the last century, and its waterways rise one or two inches every ten years. If this trend continues, we could see massive erosion not only in our sand beaches but also our muddy waterways as well. This could also result in the sea water mixing farther upstream, which could result in water that is too harsh for crops or the aquifers that we get well water from. One of the most prominent causes of this change has shown to be an increase in greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide. As a community, I believe that our next plan of action should be to use less gas powered cars, plant more trees to filter out the air, and create devices that are able to produce ozone in our atmosphere to help repair the layer.
