North Dakota has the highest proportion of responders who would drive instead of taking the five-minute walk out of all 50 states. A staggering 63 percent of the residents of the state in the northern Midwest would drive the short distance. South Carolina, which is in the southeast, has the second-highest rate at 52%. In seven states—Nevada, Nebraska, Missouri, Kentucky, Kansas, Iowa, and Indiana—more than 40% of people prefer to drive instead of walk. Only three states were below 20%. Transportation is the main source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the United States, contributing roughly 27% of the country's overall emissions. For our state of South Dakota, where air pollution and the tendency for short-distance driving are at a critical level in the USA, these two circumstances constitute a major stimulation of climate unpredictability. To reduce this overuse rate, we aim to provide trips to the beauties of our country, especially South Dakota, which is facing extinction as a result of climate change, with the help of an application with a certain number of steps. Inspired by the night sky view of the Badlands, we say: "A Step Full of Pureness, A Sky Full of Stars!".
