As climate change increasingly affects us in all aspects of life, many coastal areas of New Jersey face threats of flooding from heavy downpour. This downpour has only increased in the past years and global warming can cause even more floods and even more chances of losing electricity and suffering from property damage. In order to prevent flooding, a new plan should be in place for there to be barriers that extend based on control. This would work by being operated by someone every few square miles of the barrier and they would extend it as far as necessary to keep water intact. The barrier would have four settings: one is the regular one, at regular sea level, and the others go up as the water rises higher. It also curves in order to keep the water from going over the barrier. This solution will prevent a large portion of floods with its four levels and save many lives and possible damage.
