Most of the time octopus reacts in fear. In which case the octopus can release a cloud of ink and use its siphon to vet away. Adaptations of the octopus is that they can use camouflage, which is when an animal blends into its surroundings. They can change their own color and texture to hide. If they’re attacked they can use poisonous chemicals to hide from predators and kill their prey. Octopus in cooler climates usually grow longer than those in warm waters. A shift from warm waters to the cooler ones at the edge of the new range might mean that the octopus would start living longer, lengthening generations, and thus perhaps soon adapt itself out of adaptability to climate change. The results suggest that octopus may be better able to withstand changes ocean-acidity levels, which may have long-term and short-term effects of increased acid exposure
