I made this pin to respect the people who sacrifice their lives to protect ours. The reason why I put the Red Poppies to symbolize the bloodshed by those who fought and those who continue to fight for our country flowing the publication of the wartime poem “In Flanders Fields. On the pin I tried to recreate the American Flag. The blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The red means valor and bravery. The white means purity and innocence. Veterans Day was initially known as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I in 1918. In 1954, the holiday was renamed Veterans Day to honor all military veterans. Across the U.S., the day is marked with parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and moments of silence. Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated for Veterans.
