We <3 Our Veterans

I chose to have a flower in the middle of my pin because the red on a poppy is to represent the blood shed in wars that veterans fought in. It also is in the poem “Flanders Field”. Which is about veterans who both fought and lived on or passed away in the wars. The thirteen stars on the edge on the pin is because when Veterans Day was first established only thirteen states existed. Hence the reason there are only thirteen instead of fifty stars. I think this holiday is very important because my grandpa died in the Vietnam war. I never got to meet him. My other grandpa was also in the Vietnam war and survived. He passed away in February of last year. It was rough for our family. That's why it's important to honor those who fought in the wars.
