My army veterans pin has 12 white stars surrounding 1 large golden star, representing the 13 states and the 13 stars on the first american flag. The red, white, and blue stripes represent the colors of the american flag, representing valor, blue representing justice, and white representing purity. And the words "Army department of the states" represent how the army helps all the states of America.
