Service and Sacrifice

In my pin "Service and Sacrifice" I chose to honor both the living soldiers and the ones who have fallen, with the poppy representing the fallen soldiers who gave their lives to protect our freedom. 13 stars mark the outline of the fallen soldier poppy, with the 13th one being split to represent how the country was divided during the Civil War. 4 blue stars can be found within the others, they represent the 4 battle theaters during the War of 1812, a fight which proved that the United States could hold their own, and were destined for greatness. The three colors, Red, White, and Blue, all have separate meanings. The red shows the fallen soldiers that we remember. The blue shows the greatness of America. Finally the white shows peace. To round off the star there is a simple “Thank you for your service” a small, but sincere message.
