Life Changes in a Flash Flooding in Louisiana has impacted many families, fisheries, and especially people who live in the south. In 2005, at least 1,833 people were killed by Hurricane Katrina. In order to decrease that number we need to improve Louisiana’s levee system and add more flood plains. To prevent harmful flooding, we need to stop sewer back up. In order to prevent houses from flooding, we need to elevate the structure. We need to stop installing back- flow valves, it puts harmful chemicals in the river and the gulf, which harms the fish. We want to prevent all damage that flooding has done to Louisiana and prevent having to rebuild the south of Louisiana.
