As a student in Virginia, a state with very mixed weather, I’ve always felt the effects of global warming. Every year, the temperature reaches extreme highs and lows. When I was presented with this challenge, I hypothesized that trees could help stabilize the effects of global warming. However, I wanted to see how big of an effect trees can really have on the weather. So using Meteostat, a library with tons of historical weather data, I came up with an experiment. I found two places that share the same latitude, however, one was a very urban environment and one was rural. I made a graph with the average temperature from the two areas and analyzed both graphs. I noticed the the urban area tended to be hotter than the rural, even though they share the same lattitude. In conclusion, we should plant more trees because they can aid us in the fight against global warming.
