In recent years, New Jersey has witnessed annual precipitation 8% above average. The sea level along the New Jersey coast has risen by over 16 inches since 1911, double the global average. If this continues, changes in temperature and changing rainfall patterns can cause increased flooding, which could harm the plants in the area. To combat this, water pumps and holders, akin to water tanks, will be placed along the rivers and lakes to store and pump water out in the case of flooding, so that the water will not make it too far onto land. There will be separate tanks for pumping out water, for when the water level is lower, and storing water, for when the water level increases. Additionally, a sea wall will be built along the Jersey Shore to keep the sea levels from increasing too much and harming the environment as well as the people living in the area. The wall will be made of reinforced concrete. In conclusion, to combat the rising sea levels that could be detrimental to plants and the environment, water pumps and holders as well as a sea wall will be built to ensure that New Jersey can stay safe.
