Since 1895, New Jersey’s temperature has increased by roughly 4 degrees fahrenheit, and from this trend the temperature is expected to continue increasing. Also, 9 of the 10 hottest calendar years on record have occurred since 1990. These high temperatures can have a multitude of negative effects, including damage of infrastructure and decreased crop and livestock productivity. The main issue of high temperatures is its effect on humans. Many people, especially those vulnerable (i.e. with preexisting health conditions) can suffer from heat stroke, headaches, extreme dehydration, and much more. An easy solution to this problem is the increased presence of vending machines With the implementation of more vending machines in New Jersey, a larger number of people will have easier access to water. These vending machines will be funded by the government. In this way, people who may have forgotten to bring water with them who are facing dehydration due to the heat will be able to easily access a water source for an inexpensive price. These vending machines will be placed all throughout New Jersey, but will be focused in areas of congregation for the most effect. They will also carry other refreshing, hydrating beverages.
