Over the next 75 years, New Jersey’s shores will expect a rise in sea levels. Typically in the summer of New Jersey its climate is warm and humid. Due to the changes in climate, precipitation levels will rise impacting the shorelines of New Jersey. Specifically closer to shore points, flooding may impact certain businesses and homes. These homes may get destroyed if not built on proper infrastructure and cost tons of money to rebuild. With more precipitation comes more flooding, causing damage to homes. To prepare for the rising sea levels, the homes located on the shoreline should be built with the proper infrastructure and communities should increase the height of dunes, protecting homes. A new app, AlertMe, will be installed in each of the homes located on the shorelines in New Jersey. The app will be connected to each of the homeowner’s phones and can alert them when danger is coming their way. This alert will remind the homeowners to evacuate their homes if it is not built high enough for the water coming their way. This ensures that each individual remains safe and can detect room for improvement with infrastructure that the homeowners should resolve.
