North New Jersey is fruitful in trees, and is known for having higher ground levels. Climate hazards that threaten communities in Northern New Jersey are increases in lightning storms and surges. Increases in the frequency of lightning within the community can be believed to cause major consequences. For example, because Northern New Jersey is on higher ground, and there are many mountains surrounding the area, the air is very dry. With having dryer air and the presence of many trees surrounding, the chances of lightning striking and causing forest fires is very plausible. As an initiative to facilitate this, in-nature water ponds will be used. In-nature water ponds will be placed in numerous areas surrounded by great quantities of trees. These water ponds will be used as a preventative and an obliging incentive to forest fires. The moisture from the ponds will hopefully help prevent the start of the fires when lightning strikes and the ponds will also be utilized in order to help take out fires, in case of the event.
