GreenSigns is a company that specializes in implementing trees in place of the metal poles in road signs. GreenSigns will be working with The New Jersey Tree Foundation and The Department of Parks and Recreation in each city to implement trees in street signs throughout the state. Trees will be planted into the side of roads and will have road signs such as stop, yield, and speed limit signs mounted onto the side of them. The trees replacing the metal poles will help combat the climate change occurring in New Jersey. Trees will be maintained to prevent any interference with drivers and the environment. With an increase in climate change, rain is more frequent, flooding becomes a more prominent issue, and temperatures are warmer, resulting in more droughts during the summers. Trees can absorb water in their roots to decrease flooding on roads and prevent evaporation of water from soil, which can combat the lack of water during droughts. Since trees can absorb heat and provide shade, implementing trees into road signs will allow for an abundance of trees, which can aid in lowering the surrounding temperature. Lowering the temperature can prevent hotter summers in New Jersey.
