Climate change is the most pressing issue of our time, and it poses a significant threat to the state of California. The region is already grappling with drought, a situation that has been exacerbated by the cold prevailing westerly winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a lack of rainfall. Additionally, the melting of snow in the Sierra Nevada Snowpack has led to the over-melting of ice water, which has caused floods that have damaged the agricultural industry of the region. However, the problem has its solution. We can utilize the uncontrolled snow water as a water supply for agricultural and rangeland development during droughts. By advancing water from the dam and using snow melts to substitute the missing water later, we can prevent droughts from over-melting ice water and causing floods. In alternative, possibly using the snow water directly from the snowpack. This idea can help the agricultural industry overcome the lack of water, droughts, and the risk of flood that can have a destructive effect on the local people and our community. Therefore, we must take action to address this issue and ensure that we safeguard our environment and the livelihoods of those who depend on it.
