The Earth is currently experiencing soil degradation, the process of physical, chemical, or biological decline in soil quality. This leads to problems such as erosion or the lost of nutrients in the soil. With poor soil quality, the soil's ability to store carbon dioxide declines, releasing more carbon into the atmosphere. With my proposed idea GENESIS, I plan to solve the problem with soil degradation. GENESIS is a gel bead that contains tannin and lignin, supplementary products for expansionary foam. They are stored inside gel beads for easy transportation and delivery. When used with Coco glucoside surfactant as a binding agent and enzymes as a crosslink agents, the two should hypothetically be able to work as expansionary foam. When it is deployed underground and given the water for the geal beads to expand, it would activate the tannin and lignin to expand. This not only gives the soil a stronger structure to help with erosion, it also provides nutrients for the soil such as hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and other common nutrients.
