In today's modern world, food waste poses a significant global challenge, fundamentally impacting the environment, labor resources, and contributing to harmful greenhouse gas emissions. We propose a congressional bill that aims to address this issue through a more collaborative and data-driven approach. Under this proposed legislation, all culinary institutions and organizations will be offered the opportunity to adopt a specific inventory system, with the added benefit of being exempt from a portion of owed taxes. They would voluntarily share data on the relationship of the quantity of produce and the amount they use. This data would then be further compiled into a national database, which in turn would offer insights into the methodology of food production and the usage variations of food production across different states. This would allow the excess food to be distributed in both the most efficient and most effective way possible, helping people in need as well as helping the environment.
