I believe we need to implement additional safety measures to address the issue of flooding, which can be a significant problem in Alabama, particularly along the coastline. Flooding often leads to road closures, car displacement, and leaves families stranded without access to essential resources like food and power. To address these challenges, I propose we use a portion of our state budget to establish dedicated water/flooding rescue units in these high-risk flood zones. These units would comprise rescue boats, trucks, and helicopters, ensuring that during a flood, we have an increased number of professionals in the field, ready to assist those who are stranded and in need. Moreover, we would possess the necessary equipment to support their efforts effectively. Having these well-equipped rescue units strategically stationed near frequent flood areas will enhance our community's ability to respond quickly to emergencies and provide relief to those affected or in danger. By investing in such resources, we can better protect our residents and minimize the deadly impacts floods have on our infrastructure and livelihoods. Ultimately, by putting funds towards these flooding rescue units, we show our commitment to the safety and well-being of our community, especially during times of crisis.
