This proposal involves implementing rain barrels into our community to reuse rainwater and reduce runoff that has been increased due to climate change. Rain barrels will be introduced via community sales, in which essential information will be available to the recipient. The sales will show what they do for the environment along with advantages to the customer. Rain barrels will improve the efficiency of water usage in the community while saving the users money, as 30% of water consumption is used on landscaping. The money saved by using rain barrels can go right back into the community, as a result strengthening the economy. The rain barrels will be sourced from a locally-based company, which supports the local economy instead of giving the money to a large corporation. The money earned from the rain barrels will go back into the community via other environmental projects, such as superfund projects and the creation/renovation of parks. The advantages of rain barrels will not just be for single households. The unused water collected by one household's rain barrels could potentially be used by other households that need it. In conclusion, rain barrel sales are a water-saving project that is feasible and effective.
