Our proposed climate action is to host a community clothing swap. We will advertise through social media and posters, and place bins around our town for people to drop off their clothes prior to the swap. The actual clothing swap would be held at a public, or multiple public locations in our community, for people to come and enjoy. Some background about our own city is that our weather is seasonal, and we live near many lakes. How climate change would affect our area is that the weather would become a lot more intense, for example, stronger heat waves, and possibly worse winters. Community wise, there are a lot of local downtown businesses and many events go on in our city quite often. A clothing swap would be a perfect plan to take more action in our town because of the strong sense of community there is, and how many people are likely to show up to an event like this if advertised right. There are already thrifting events that a lot of people in our area look forward to. It is a great solution to lessen the consumerism of fast fashion, and bring our community together.
