During the winter, Louisiana’s temperatures are usually ranging from the mid-40s for northern Louisiana and in the 50’s for southern Louisiana. Due to climate change those temperatures have been dropping. Since Louisiana citizens aren't used to temperatures below mid-40s, they are not prepared for the extreme drop in temperatures. From being unfit to face the cold weather, it has lead to many people dying and getting sick. I propose we create more homeless shelters and houses with fireplaces as well as create a fundraiser for winter clothing. The homeless are stuck in the cold without proper clothing and food. Though we do have heaters built into houses, what happens when the electricity goes out and that was their only source of warmth? Not everyone can afford a generator so they are just freezing to death. Not everyone in louisiana can afford the proper clothing for the winter as well.
