The great state of Louisiana is known for its very diverse culture. One of the things that makes Louisiana unique is our food. A larger staple of food is crawfish. Crawfish are water bugs found in the mud that are farmed and harvested. This year due to the dropping temperatures the population has dropped drastically. The weather is killing off the crawfish in large bunches. Causing the growth of the population over the years dwindles to a very low number. As they are warm water animals they are not used to the lower temperatures that have been making an appearance in our warm state. Not only is it affecting the ecosystems but it is also affecting the farmers and consumers of the state. Later on this will cause the state to lose a good amount of its money as it is very popular. These little mudbugs are also food for many of the larger birds that call the rice fields their home. The birds and humans are not the only ones that consume crawfish, raccoons and fish also have an appetite for them as well. Colder temps equals colder water that equals cold crawfish equals no crawfish.
