Wildfires have been a pressing issue in California for years. It has affected local communities as well as national parks like Yosemite, burning down swathes of trees and threatening destruction in nearby towns. My proposed climate action plan is a focus on tracking and controlling wildfires. In order to do this, funds must be allocated towards research and development of new technologies. My idea is to create a statistical mapping tool that utilizes machine learning in order to track the wildfire’s path by analyzing the surrounding environment and vegetation. This will not only help in containing wildfires, but will also allow a faster response to wildfire hazards. This will be supplemented by the development of chemical compounds specifically designed to push or move the fires around, which can be used in uncontrolled or controlled fires.
