In response to the increasingly harmful climate-related hazards in my community, I propose to implement an action plan focused on enhancing sustainability and protecting my community. In my community a huge problem is flooding. Many of my friends and families' homes have been flooded due to strong storms. To prevent flooding, we should implement flood barriers like levees, dikes, and seawalls. We should also collect the water to then provide the city with fresh water by constructing green spaces and permeable surfaces. Through the creation of these flood preventions, green spaces, permeable surfaces, and the restoration of local ecosystems, we will reduce the risk of flooding, enhance water management, and mitigate heat island effects. This will help make my community more resilient and withstand climate-related events.
