Coral without algae is known as the bleached coral, and it turns completely white due to its lack of algae which would otherwise provide color. Coral without algae can no longer grow or reproduce, and even if the bleaching event does not kill the coral, it will still be more susceptible to mortality. To stop coral bleaching, we must combat the increasing carbon emissions by electing leaders who prioritize the environment.
