Living in the forests of California, I know forest fires all too well. My idea can help wildfire-ravaged communities recover through innovative modular housing units. After a devastating blaze, we would like to swiftly deploy ready-to-assemble cottages made of fire-resistant materials to provide temporary shelter and housing. My idea is modular units that come with solar panels and battery storage so families have power even if grid infrastructure is damaged. Units also have air filtration systems to protect against smoke inhalation risks during fires. Residents can customize their temporary cottage with different layouts and amenities to fit their needs. Our units are designed to flexibly adapt as families rebuild and reestablish their lives. With climate change fueling bigger, hotter wildfires across regions, innovative housing solutions are crucial for resilience. My modular cottage system allows for rapid deployment of safe, sustainable housing to help communities bounce back after disasters. My ultimate goal is to help families restart faster and empower long-term revival.
