Right now, I'm a student in Connecticut, where unusual weather patterns like snow days and sharp temperature swings are common. I believe that these events are a result of climate change, and if nothing is done about them, there may be dire repercussions. Sea levels may increase as a result of rising global temperatures, forcing our future descendants to relocate. The consequences of neglecting these problems have already been demonstrated by the multiple floods that Connecticut has previously experienced due to storm surges and unusually high tides. Although many people support environmental conservation, there are frequently insufficient practical answers, and also the United States is the country with the highest per capita carbon emissions in the world. So, I think we should do something about it. In an effort to promote awareness, my poster outlines the causes of Connecticut's floods and illustrates possible future events. I also provide doable recommendations that people can incorporate into their everyday lives, such as minimizing paper waste, using energy-efficient alternatives to dry clothing, and saving electricity by shutting off lights and air conditioners when not in use. It is my goal that by doing these tiny things, people would help to preserve the ecosystem.
