Hydroponics would be a very efficient way to grow and study plants in space as it doesn’t require soil and solely depends on water and minerals. This design tackles the challenge of growing plants in a micro-gravity environment and allows more space for storage. Water is inserted through the space between the two cones on the bottom face. Due to capillary action and surface tension, the water will travel up and reach the seed which can be inserted from the hole on the top. Once the water is inserted, the hole can be sealed with Velcro or sealer of choice. Areas for ventilation are available in the design. This box will revolutionize plant studies during space exploration and will contribute to further discoveries that will shape our future.
