The Microgravity Planter is a modular, cohesion-watered plant habitat geared specifically for the microgravity conditions on the International Space Station. It features an interior teardrop-shaped reservoir which allows for water to accumulate on the pointed surface (thanks to the cohesive and adhesive properties of water) which is then in contact with the soil and roots. Additionally, the container includes interlocking grooves on two of the sides in order to assemble containers together for side-by-side comparison and to keep different samples of one experiment together and organized. The top plate is removable in order to tend to the plants and soil inside and can be snapped into place. The water reservoir features a removable screw-in cap in order to access the reservoir and add water via a water pouch, pipette, or other means. (Planter does not have to be made of transparent material. Planter shown in image is only transparent to show the internal reservoir.)
