First we surrounded the egg tightly with triangles made out of straws. Next we taped straws to each side of each triangle to create spokes off each angle. When the egg was dropped, the spokes absorbed the energy from the fall. The spokes hit the ground at different times. Three spokes were damaged. The spoke that hit first was damaged the most. The spoke that that hit last was damaged the least. We purposefully made the lengths of the spokes uneven so that they would not hit the ground at the same time. We used only straws and tape. If size is defined by volume, the size of our structure is not very big. The egg survived the drop without any cracks.
