Name: Jerry Adaptations: 20% smaller If we assume humans continue to destroy the planet the Hyacinth macaw will have to adapt. One of the changes that could happen is the decrease in size of the Hyacinth macaw. We have proven that lower oxygen levels in the air cause major changes to the size of a creature. A proven example of this concept is the Arthropleura which is a species of centipede capable of growing up to 9 feet in length and 22 inches in 6 feet in width. This was due to a 35% increase in oxygen during that era. But since the industrial revolution the emission of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, et cetera have vastly increased. This is going to dilute the oxygen. Trees and algae are also dying at a rapid rate. This means even less oxygen going into the air.
