Future platypus

The platypus is a near threatened species and can only be found in Australia. There are about 300,000 left in the world but that number will probably decrease given the rapidly increasing climate, deforestation and predators. The platypus has already adapted in multiple ways such as having one of the lowest inner body temperatures of 32 degrees celsius, and multiple layers of fur for insulation and waterproofing. Though platypuses build burrows to stay in but they also need to find food so they have webbed feet to provide power while swimming. However in my future creature I think platypuses will evolve to have longer legs for easier swimming. This will help them swim away from predators and also help them catch prey. I also think platypuses will develop a lighter brown color of fur if their habitat becomes a marsh to help them camouflage hiding from predators and prey.
