Have you ever wondered what would happen if every human lost their home? Well, this is the case for the Cuban Solenodon and many other animals living in the rainforest. The Cuban Solenodon is a small rat-like animal that lives in the high elevation in the Parque Guanayara forest where animals are covered in dense trees. Because of climate change trees are being chopped down and water is becoming less and less drinkable. In the future, almost every tree in the Parque Guanayara forest will be chopped down for lumber and then the Cuban Solenodon will have no home. I think the Cuban Solenodon will grow bigger, stronger claws so it can burrow underground. I think the Cuban Solenodon will burrow underground because they have to find a home somewhere so underground is the best option to hide from predators that are too big to go underground.
