Electric eels can be found in South America of the middle and lower Amazon and Orinoco river basins. The electric eels are in murky, fresh water, such as Small pools and streams with stagnant waters. An electric eel is mostly blind. They rely on their electrical pulse to navigate and explore their surroundings. Electric eels are one of the top predators in water. If they see their prey is a predator first, they will give off a high-voltage pulse, then they rapidly strike at the prey and suck it into their mouth. One shock from an electric eel can kill an animal or human. They’re only three predators that eels have, which is, caimans, American crocodiles, and piranhas. Electric eels cannot survive in salt water, therefore they are not the same as actual eels. They cannot survive on land for long. Their elongated anal fin helps them swim in water.
