Poison dart frogs live in tropical rainforests. Poison dart frogs live in a humid climate, which means that they can get away from permanent bodies of water. But, they are very dependent on water. Poison dart frogs have a colorful skin. The bright blues, yellows and oranges serve as a warning color, encouraging predators to stay away. Trees are very important for poison dart frogs because they regulate their temperature. They typically reside close to the forest floor, but can occasionally climb trees up to approximately 10 meters tall. Without trees to regulate temperature, they risk overheating and death. In the future, as the trees fall, poison dart frogs would have to change their environment by living in the water, such as rivers and lakes. They would have a different skin and camouflage. They would have more blue and gray skin.
