This theoretical situation is if sloths had to evolve to live in water due to the melting ice caps increasing the sea level drastically. Some of the very noticeable changes would be the new gills, scales instead of fur/skin, and a change in the claws. The claws will be much different, they will seem less long and more like actual fingers, and the bottom part is webbed. The fingers are webbed to assist in swimming, and there are also fins to assist with swimming more. Sloths are already very good swimmers, so they don't need too much more swimming assistance. There would also be non-noticeable changes. These would include eyes changing to handle water better, loss of lungs, and new forms of communication.
