Hailing from the Andes in South America, the spectacled bear is the only one on the continent and can be seen in habitats ranging from rainforests to coastal deserts, showing they can easily adapt to different environments. Like many other rainforest animals, they are put at risk by their habitats being destroyed by man. If their rainforests become completely destroyed in the future, I would imagine that they would move to more coastal desert habitats. This may cause them to hunt the wildlife there, likely resulting in them having a more carnivorous diet than when they mostly lived in the forests. I would imagine this shift in diet would result in them having longer claws to attack their prey more easily and may lose a bit of weight to move quicker.
