Hydrochoerus scopulum vs Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris The Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris is the present animal that we know as the capybara, the capybara is a rather large rodent that befriends most animals in its habitat including crocodiles, lizards and types of mammals all around it. But there are two it is frightened and threatened by, the anaconda and jaguar; they are the only two predators of a capybara. The Hydrochoerus scopulum is completely different! The Hydrochoerus scopulum in latin “capybara reef” would be the largest rodent known to man. Standing at 7 feet tall and 7 feet long while swimming. It can hold its breath for 13 months until needing air to breath, although it has a diet of mostly kelp, algae and seagrass it knows how to put up a fight! It slams its tail rapidly to swipe away unwanted guests. That capybara won’t stand a chance against the capybara reef.
