Some tapirs live in the Amazon Rainforest, by the water. They have an upper lip and nose that looks like a snout. Tapirs have a diet that includes leaves, twigs, fruit, and grass. They also have four toes on their front legs and three on the hind legs. Adults weigh about 300-700 pounds. They also have small oval shaped ears. Due to climate change, parts of the Amazon Rainforest will flood about two feet in 2100. Tapirs’ snouts will grow longer and be used to breathe, like a snorkel. They will have webbed feet to help them swim and will shrink so they can stay afloat on water. Adult tapirs will weigh 200-500 pounds. They will survive on seafood, instead of plants. Their ears will become small holes on the sides of their heads like fish. These adaptations will ensure that my animal thrives in their new habitat.
