The red-eyed tree frog is a fascinating creature that lives in Central American rainforests. As its name implies, they spend most of their time in trees, using their sticky toe pads to climb and jump. Their moist, bright green skin helps them blend in with the lush greenery, while hints of blue on their legs and sides help them blend with the sky above. They mainly eat insects, using their long sticky tongue to capture prey. Climate change could really shake things up for these frogs! Rising temperatures and decreased rainfall will disrupt the rainforest ecosystem. Trees would dry out and die, the frogs would need to adapt to ground life, developing webbed feet and muscular legs to move quickly and escape predators. Their skin would become a brown tone to camouflage with new environment surroundings. Insects would become scarce, possibly leading to a decrease in size of the frog.
