The three-toed sloth living in the rainforest is an amazing creature! They have long fur and claws because of the environment they live in. They’re the slowest animal on earth, and because of this, sloths live 95% of their life up in the trees. Sloths only come down once a week to relieve themselves then back up they go. Without trees, sloths can't survive. Sadly, if the deforestation rate continues then in 100 years the rainforest will be gone. If this happens then sloths will have to change to have a chance of survival. For example, they’ll need to develop shorter fur because of global warming. The sloths would need to learn how to survive from predators on land. To do this they will need to develop shorter claws and strong legs to move around quicker. Even if the sloth changes its appearance their main features should stay the same.
