The three-toed sloth is a creature with amazing adaptations. The sloth can swim and has adapted to be able to hold its breath for up to 40 minutes. This animal is so slow that moss can grow on its fur, which helps them blend in with their surroundings when they are sleeping so they don’t get hurt or killed. In the future, sloths will have shorter, retractable claws on their front paws and no claws on their feet. They will use their front claws to dig holes in the ground to hibernate in. The holes they dig for hibernation will be only large enough to fit their bodies and nothing else in order to keep them safe from predators and the elements (such as the extreme heat, cold, and rain of the future). In the future, sloths will live under ground and will find new ways for life.
