Jaguars live in the Amazon Rainforest. Jaguars are adapted for life in the rainforest with muscular limbs and large paws to climb trees and swim in rivers and streams. They are strong swimmers. They gravitate toward areas near rivers and streams. Jaguars eat peccaries, birds, fish, anteaters, deer, tapir, opossum, rabbits and livestock. A jaguar in the future will adapt to changing temperatures by growing a thicker coat of fur on the top for shade and thin fur everywhere else to allow easy heat loss. They would also need to be able to go a long time with no water and the ability to tolerate body temperatures. Their nails on their claws will be longer so it is easier for them to grip on to things like trees or the rainforest ground or other things. These adaptations help jaguars to adapt to various environments to hunt their prey.
